The Argo Fob Pendant is an antique Victorian solid 9K yellow gold fob, set with a beautifully carved carnelian intaglio depicting a sailing ship beneath the rays of a rising or setting sun. The warm, translucent carnelian glows like amber held against the light, while the tiny vessel carved into its surface seems forever caught between land and open water—sails raised, sun overhead, and an unknown horizon ahead.

Its name comes from the Argo, the legendary ship of Jason and the Argonauts, who sailed beyond the familiar world in search of the Golden Fleece. But the little ship carved here could just as easily belong to a Victorian sailor leaving an English harbor, watched from the shore by someone who loved him.

For centuries, ships have carried the same promise and danger: adventure beyond the horizon, storms and uncertain waters, and the hope of one day seeing familiar shores again.

One can imagine this fob tucked into a waistcoat pocket as a talisman for a journey, perhaps given by a sweetheart or family member before a sailor departed.
